YAMPA VALLEY ART INSTITUTE

The Steamboat Arts & Crafts Gym welcomes as its “sister” program the Yampa Valley Art Institute.  The Yampa Valley Art Institute is a teaching facility devoted to facilitating fine art programs for Adults and Teens.  Teachers or instructors are from the local area as well as regional and national artists.  The Yampa Valley Art Institute is devoted to providing high quality art instruction in all mediums including but not limited to all levels of ceramics, including pottery wheel instruction, hand-building pottery, raku and more.  The Yampa Valley Art Institute also provides instruction, classes and weekend workshops for all mediums of painting, drawing, photography, jewelry, and special art workshops.  Some of our special art workshops include doll making, batik and scrapbooking.  Our goal is to provide an instructor or artist with students - to host a creative learning experience for everyone.  Classes and weekend workshops are for all skill levels.

INSTRUCTOR/TEACHER INFORMATION

Thank you for making the Yampa Valley Art Institute Connection.  We welcome all those who would like to teach their art at our studios.  It is simple, easy and fun to make the YVAI connection. YVAI is not exclusive and does not discriminate.  We offer anyone wanting to teach a class that pertains to our line of business, or fits with our facility to give us a call at (970) 870-0384 or e-mail:
diane@steamboatartsandcraftsgym.com.  We can  set up an appointment to get together and discuss the course description and pay schedule.  Most all our instructors are Independent Contractors.  We do teach with a minimum of five students.

Artist/Instructors
ARTIST/INSTRUCTOR BIOS:
CALLIGRAPHY INSTRUCTOR:  Andrea Jehn Kennedy has a Bachelor's degree in Visual Arts from Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida, and graduated Cum Laude in her field in 1995. Her studies focused on calligraphy, pen and ink, Chinese art, and photography. Andy moved to Steamboat in 1998 "for just one summer," and fell in love with the community. She has worked for many small businesses in town, and also started her own small business with her husband Craig in 2003, Access Anything, a nationally leading company focused on adventure travel for people with disabilities. Andy also sits on the Board of Directors for the Yampa Valley Sustainability Council, and leads a women's photography club in town. She has recently begun offering her calligraphy skills to several Steamboat wedding planners, and is excited by the rejuvenated interest in this traditional art form.

ACRYLIC CANVAS FLOOR MATS:  Dona Steele, a professional artist creating faux finishes & decorative painting on walls, furniture & floor mats. Dona also teaches summer Kaliedoscope art classes for children along with being the coordinator for the yearly “strada d’ Art’ sidewalk painting event.  Dona received her degree in Art Education at Florida State University with a minor in constructive design.

CERAMICS - TILE, POTTERY WHEEL & HAND BUILDING:
  Julie Anderson has been working in the field of ceramic sculpture for ten years as a custom tile designer, sculptor and instructor. Her work involves both hand-built and wheel-thrown forms that are often carved with a high level of detail. She currently exhibits and sells her work at the K. Saari Gallery in Steamboat. CERAMICS - HAND-BUILDING:  Nancy Zoller, is a potter/teacher from Loveland, Colorado.  Loves to teach workshops and has been a potter for about 35 years.

ORIGAMI:   Tina Weintraub has been teaching origami for more than 20 years.  She is a retired teacher and the co-author of Easy Origami, a Scholastic publication.
